Select projects we're bringing to AFCM: To Lagos With Love – A romantic dramedy film originally developed through the Realness Institute in partnership with Netflix Africa. The project is produced in collaboration with Rellow Media (Canada), Inner City Films (Canada), and Circle Blue Entertainment (Canada), and has been shortlisted for the Sundance Development Track. Destination Wedding – A Crazy Rich Asians-inspired romantic comedy set between Toronto and Cape Town, exploring love, class, and identity. The Challenge – A high-stakes limited thriller series set in Lagos in the spirit of Squid Game, examining morality, survival, and social hierarchy in a distinctly African context. The Writings of Maria Firmina Dos Reis – An 80% funded documentary feature on Brazil’s first Black female novelist, a direct descendant of enslaved Africans. The film explores the intersections between Brazilian and Nigerian heritage, illuminating shared histories through literature, culture, and identity. A Thousand Words in the Rain – A poetic romantic short film directed by Akay Mason, capturing love, loss, and reconnection through visually evocative storytelling.

Campfire Studios is bringing 2 major projects to the AFCM. 1. TRAPPED is an urban supernatural thriller with elements of African folklore and Afro-Brazilian mysticism, set between Salvador, Bahia, and Osun, Enugu, Lagos Nigeria. The film explores themes of displacement, memory, and ancestral spirituality, blending elevated genre with social relevance. We are currently in development, and our goal is to structure the project as a Brazil–Africa–Nigeria co-production. LOGLINE: From the vibrant shores of Bahia, Lara journeys to Nigeria to reunite with old friends on a weekend escape to a remote waterfall cave. But what begins as adventure soon turns into dread, as they find themselves trapped within a mystical terrain that unearths their secrets and shatters their loyalties. 2. NJEM is a thriller about When life’s endless struggle drives a young hustler to chase migration as his only escape, an unexpected twist ties his dream of freedom to a painful choice that could cost him someone he loves.
